Do you need GST registration?
Registration becomes compulsory once your aggregate turnover crosses the threshold for a financial year. For a business in Uttar Pradesh, the limits are:
- ₹40 lakh if you only supply goods
- ₹20 lakh if you supply services (or both goods and services)
Aggregate turnover is counted across India for all businesses under the same PAN — not just your Noida sales. Some states have lower limits.
You must register regardless of turnover in several cases, including:
- Inter-state supply of goods
- Selling goods through e-commerce marketplaces (in most cases)
- Casual taxable persons, such as sellers at a trade fair in another state
- Businesses liable to pay tax under reverse charge, or required to deduct/collect tax at source under GST
Even below the threshold, many businesses register voluntarily — B2B customers often insist on a GST invoice so they can claim input tax credit.
Documents you'll need
- PAN of the business (or of the proprietor)
- Aadhaar, PAN and a photograph of the proprietor, partners or directors, and of the authorised signatory
- Proof of constitution — partnership deed, LLP agreement or certificate of incorporation
- Proof of your place of business — electricity bill or property tax receipt, plus a rent agreement and owner's NOC if the premises are rented
- Authorisation letter or board resolution for the authorised signatory
- Bank account details (these can also be added after registration)
- A Class 3 digital signature (DSC) for companies and LLPs
How the process works
- Eligibility and registration type. We confirm whether you need to register and whether the composition scheme or regular registration suits you better.
- Part A of Form GST REG-01. PAN, mobile and email are verified by OTP, which generates a temporary reference number (TRN).
- Part B. Business details, place of business, promoters, the goods or services you supply (HSN/SAC codes) and documents are filed.
- Aadhaar authentication. The promoters and authorised signatory complete Aadhaar authentication. Some applicants are also asked to complete biometric verification at a GST Suvidha Kendra.
- Processing. The application gets an ARN. If the officer raises a query (Form REG-03), we draft and file the reply (REG-04).
- Approval. The registration certificate (REG-06) and your 15-digit GSTIN are issued on the portal.
How long does it take?
Since 1 November 2025, a simplified registration route is available for low-risk applicants whose output tax on supplies to registered businesses won't exceed ₹2.5 lakh a month. Eligible applicants who complete Aadhaar authentication can get approval within about three working days.
Other applications are usually approved within about seven working days of the ARN if no query is raised. A query, or a physical verification of your premises, adds time — which is why a clean first application matters.
After you get your GSTIN
- Display your GSTIN and registration certificate at your place of business.
- Add bank account details on the portal within 30 days if you didn't provide them in the application — otherwise the registration can be suspended.
- Start filing returns: GSTR-1 (sales) and GSTR-3B (summary and tax payment), monthly or quarterly depending on turnover. Composition taxpayers file CMP-08 quarterly and GSTR-4 annually.
- Issue GST-compliant invoices and reconcile your purchases with GSTR-2B before claiming input tax credit.
Operating without registration when you're required to register can attract a penalty of ₹10,000 or the tax evaded, whichever is higher — plus you lose input tax credit for that period.
How Vitt-Marg helps
We handle the whole application — eligibility check, document review, filing, Aadhaar and biometric coordination, and replies to any query — and then run your monthly returns if you'd like. If you're weighing a company or LLP registration at the same time, we can file both together.

Is there a government fee for GST registration?
No. The GST portal charges nothing for registration. Our professional fee is separate and quoted up front.
Can I register my home address in Noida as the place of business?
Yes. You'll need proof of ownership (or a rent agreement) and a no-objection letter from the owner. The department may verify the premises, so the address must be where the business actually operates.
I'm below the ₹40 lakh / ₹20 lakh threshold. Should I still register?
It depends on who you sell to. If most customers are GST-registered businesses, registering lets you issue tax invoices and claim input tax credit on your purchases. If you sell mainly to consumers, staying unregistered may be simpler — we can run the numbers with you.
Should I choose the composition scheme?
Composition suits small traders and manufacturers (turnover up to ₹1.5 crore in most states) who sell mainly to consumers: tax is a small fixed percentage of turnover and filing is quarterly. The trade-off is no input tax credit and no inter-state sales. We'll compare both options for your business.
How quickly can you file my application?
Once we have your documents, we usually file within one to two working days. Approval time then depends on the route (about three working days for eligible low-risk applicants) and whether a query is raised.
